In Dialogue with Nature: A Lecture and Demonstration of the Art, Crafts, and Material of Japanese Traditional Painting
by the Japanese Painter Kambe Tomoyuki

$10 for non members. Advance sign up required.

Kambe Tomoyuki (b.1975) currently resides in Boston with a grant from the Japan Cultural Agency. He graduated from Tama Art University in 2001 and has since been a member of the Tama Art University Laboratory. Paintings of Mr. Kambe consist of three layers creating structurally well-defined images on different levels like in reality.

Kazari: Bonsai Display Competition
The first national competition on the art of displaying bonsai in a tokonoma alcove. Kazari is a judged and prized event with awards of $2,500, $1,000 and $500. Evening wine and cheese reception with announcement of winners on May 16.
